History

South El Monte, California, is a city in Los Angeles County that lies in the San Gabriel Valley, east of the city of Los Angeles. 

The city has a long history, dating back to the 1800s when it was a small Mexican village. It was the place where the Shoshone Native people would gather water. 

Its history as an American state began when settlers, The Thompson Party, arrived looking for gold. 

In recent years, the city has seen significant growth, with several new developments and businesses opening. South El Monte is also home to a number of cultural and historical sites, including the South El Monte Arts Posse, which celebrates the city’s past. The city is known for its close-knit community and its diverse population.
